This is really interesting Naba, is there any chance of having a version complied for ffp 0.5? Move with the times and all? I understand ffp 0.4 and ffp 0.5 can co-exist so I could install the older version as well, but it'd be much better to have the single, more recent version supported!
I always feel bad asking people to do something for free, but it would be really great, to be able to stream video straight to the 360 with a neat little package ![]()

Hey all,
I acquired a D-Link DNS-323 and am now hacking at getting it to stream to my xBox 360. I'm not a total Linux newb as I replaced Winblows from all my machines and have been using Debian full time for about 2 years now. I have fun_plug working on it, and have also installed uShare (I used the pre-compiled one listed here instead of compiling it). I have divided up the hard drives into a few different directories - one for all my documents and file archives I want to be accessible by the computers on my network, and one for the media I wish to stream. My media directory is split up into three directories with the category being the directory names - "Music", "Photos", & "Videos". I then split up those directories with subdirectories - music is split up by "Artist", then "Album", occasionally "CD#". The music for each is then placed into the last corresponding directory. My Photo directory is split up into sub-directories by event. The same applies to the videos directory. Now, the music I can access the songs directly, but only by song directly (using "Songs" on my 360). I can't access them by genre, artist, album, etc. The photo's and video's I cannot see or access what-so-ever. Any idea's what I've done wrong?

I just tried yesterday with a unmodded dns323 in UPNP mode
My xbox360 sees the dns323, also sees the directories I indexed, but NO subdirectories and in the music directory it sees no files (all mp3), in the picture folder, no pictures (all jpg), but strange enough in the video directory (I created the folders on the dns323) all files are seen and the box plays the WMV videos (not my avi)
I am flabbergasted... any one has an idea ???
regards

Two additions;
You can refresh the shared media indexing and adding new shares by connecting to;
http://[DNS IP Address]:[uShare port]/web/ushare.html
I have not tried this but have connected so it is there.
I have also built uShare for XBox streaming although no DLNA (PS3) support as of yet.
Check out the FW1.5 and ffp 0.5 uShare thread for details.
Also thanks to kh_naba as this thread solved a couple of issues with my build and I had been running this version of uShare on ffp 0.4 without an issue for a while.

I have the same problem as douma does. It will see avi's files but will not play them. It will play the wmv files without a problem. It also doesn't see all of my files only some of them which is weird.
